Team

The Barworkz team…

  • has over 20 years of experience in the restaurant and bar industry – we know what we’re talking about and we’re passionate about what we do.
  • can draw on an extensive, ever-growing network of contacts in the bar business and the spirits industry.

Bastian Heuser

Bastian is widely regarded as one of the best bartenders in Germany. After training in hotel management at the Excelsior Hotel Ernst, he worked as a bartender and bar manager in Cologne, Frankfurt, London and Berlin. In 2006 he became a freelance writer for Germany’s best-known bar culture magazine, Mixology. He is a co-founder and managing director of the Bar Convent Berlin (BCB), the most important trade fair for bars in the German-speaking world, and a member of the Traveling Mixologists, an exclusive group of international bartenders.

As the managing director of Barworkz, his role includes organising events and training courses.

Bastian is also a freelancer writer for various trade publications.

Bastian has tried or mixed almost every drink under the sun – and hardly any spirit has passed his lips without him dreaming up a recipe at the very first sip.

Sanjay Cachemaille

Sanjay, a Media Studies graduate, worked as a product manager for the Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG) before moving to the PR agency Häberlein & Maurer as a consultant. In addition to Volkswagen, his clients included Diageo Reserve brands and Coca-Cola, which explains his passion for finding the right market positioning for drinks brands. Coming from a family of hoteliers, he has many years of experience working as a bartender in Germany and abroad.

Here at Barworkz he specialises in strategy, publicity and marketing.

Sanjay brings an exciting mix of passion and business acumen to the Barworkz team. Even when relaxing with a good drink, his mind is constantly working on new concepts. Very few days go by without him dreaming up ideas for almost any product on the market.

Leonie Kaack

Like everyone in the Barworkz team, Leonie has plenty of experience of the restaurant and bar industry. The communications specialist was project manager for the BundesPresseStrand Berlin from 2005 to early 2007. She then moved to Berlin agency Hopf Strategie, where she worked with drinks industry clients such as Bols, Bols Genever, Galliano and Metaxa. The experience stirred up her interest in all things “spirit-ual”. After an extended stay in Africa, Leonie returned to Berlin and has been working as a freelance consultant and project manager for the Barworkz team ever since.
